Monaco Historic Grand Prix 2021

Like the Le Mans Classic, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is a biennial event run on closed public roads. And, for spectators and entrants alike, both race meetings are rather frustratingly held the same year.
But, the pain of organising racecar transport twice is worth it as the stunning track, so familiar from TV screens, is one the world’s finest, and perhaps the most charismatic. Racers can drive in the tyre treads of Stewart, Moss, Nuvolari et al, while spectators will enjoy seeing Bugattis, Alfas and Maserati 250Fs, plus more modern Ferraris, Brabhams and McLarens tackling the Monegasque gradients.
To be eligible for the meeting you must have a car of the type that competed in period up to a date set by the organisers. When the regulations were announced in March 2016 this was 1980.
The big news for the 2018 event is that the pre-War race is back. In 2016 this was just a demonstration. The F3 race is taking a break, while the sports car round – intended to be for cars that raced only in 1952, when the GP was for two-seaters – has been expanded to include “Front-engine Sport and Prototype Racing cars with engine capacity of 2L or more and which raced between 1952 – 1957 inclusive.” So, expect to see D-types. Maserati 300Ss, Aston Martin DB3Ss and Ferrari 750 and 860 Monzas.
