2017 Goodwood Revival: The fun starts here... 9th September 2017

We bring you some of the flavour of this year’s wonderful three-day Revival Meeting, an event that is so much more than a simple ‘step back in time’.

The weather of Friday was biblically wet, but did it spoil the fun? Well, to a certain extent, yes. For those – including your correspondent – out at the back of the circuit standing in horizontal rain, conditions were grim. But as ever, truly world-class driving kept the priceless cars mostly on the black stuff. And today the weather gods were more benign.

Two 60th anniversaries were celebrated: the 1957 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring and Ecurie Ecosse’s triumph at the Le Mans 24 Hours that year. Significant single-seaters were displayed behind the Jackie Stewart Pavilion remembering Fangio’s greatest win, while the pitlane was awash with tartan in celebration of the great team from Merchiston Mews, Edinburgh. JYS drove his old Tojeiro-Buick in the track display, where he was joined by many C- and D-types and the famous Commer transporter.

All terrific fun – here’s a sample of what went on.
