$20m gross: Broad Arrow's best all-Porsche auction so far

$20m gross: Broad Arrow's best all-Porsche auction so far 29th April 2026

The Hagerty Insurance-owned firm returned to a happy hunting ground on Saturday as the official auction partner of Air|Water, the Porsche event in Costa Mesa, California. This year’s gross beat 2025’s by a third, with sell-through up slightly at 78% (71% 12 months ago).

Nearly all the other metrics were an improvement on the previous two events.

The non-selling 1988 Porsche 959 SC ‘Reimagined by Canepa’ hacked a $3.2m to $3.6m hole out of the possible total, but at $4.68m the headlining Porsche 918 Spyder did pretty well, albeit just under lower guide price.

At a glance:

* Gross, motor cars: $19,583,380* (2025, $15,185,050)
* Percentage sold by number, motor cars: 78% (2025, 71%)
* Top-selling car: 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package $4,680,000 gross, $4,250,000 net (est. $4.5m to $5.5m)

* From published results. Broad Arrow declares a total of ‘$20m’ that includes two lots simply listed as ‘sold’.

The 918 Spyder not only had the desirable Weissach lightweight package, it had other options such as front axle lifts and was painted Riviera Blue, a classic 1990s shade from the Porsche catalogue. The paint-to-sample colour was seen on only four 918 Spyders in the US.

Other results of note (all prices gross):

* 1992 Porsche 911 Targa Reimagined By Singer 'Rio Commission', $1,160,000. One of two Singers in the sale, both of which sold at or just above low estimate.
* 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0, $995,000. As ultimate, ‘last of the breed’ cars go, the Mezger-engined GT3 RS 4.0 is right up there. Sold $100k under lower guide price.
* 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo, $417,500. Incredible ‘time-warp’ 3.3-litre, 4-speed Turbo in silver with just 772 miles recorded from new. Original paint and interior.
* 2025 RUF SCR, $2,095,000. Terrific car in Turkish Blue with only 217 miles.
* 1996 Porsche 911 (993) Turbo, $409,250. Big money for a standard Guards Red (rare for a 993 Turbo) car with multiple owners put in at No Reserve. Polished wheels not to everyone’s taste.

Next stop for Broad Arrow will be by the shores of Lake Como, Italy, for its 16-17 May Villa d’Este sale.
