Artcurial’s €3.9m Fritz Neuser Collection auction

Artcurial’s €3.9m Fritz Neuser Collection auction 16th March 2026

On Sunday, national institution Artcurial offered a selection of cars and automobilia consigned from former German Ferrari and Alfa Romeo dealer Fritz Neuser. Everything was offered without reserve and the motor cars section grossed nearly €4m.

Top-selling entry was the Verde Medio 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ (below). The Plexiglas European car achieved €585,000 with the Parisians’ familiar chunky 17% buyer’s premium. Which sounds a bit of a bargain, until you read that its aluminium bodywork was the result of work “probably carried out by a workshop in the Netherlands” in the 2000s after a garage fire. Est. €500k to €800k.

Neuser was in the Paris saleroom to witness the disposal of the balance of his life’s work in the automotive world, remaining impassive at the front of the room throughout proceedings. Prior to a short career hillclimbing in the 1960s, he had been a member of the German Olympic cycling team.

Next up was a Blu Sera 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB (est. €350k to €450k) that sold a little below typical market price for a non-red car today, €356,850 or $376.25k on the day.

Fun and affordable entries included the 1972 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato (€37,440) and the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider Veloce (€46,800). The 1970 Alfa Romeo GTam 2.0-Litre (est. €200k to €300k) lacked its original engine and, year-wise, is too modern for the most popular historic racing series, but nonetheless generated a useful €195,390.

In an event not noted for strong results, the dry sump, Classiche Certified – despite no longer presented in interesting Grigio Auteuil – 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB ‘Vetroresina’ was bought for €171,990. Est. €130k to €180k. All prices include buyer’s premium.
