Now in its 30th year and since 2021 owned by insurance giant Hagerty, the annual concours on the manicured lawns of The Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island is one of the world’s top classic car events.

Despite ModaMiami, another high-quality concours, held in Miami only days before, The Amelia proved once again the healthy appetite for interesting – not always super-valuable – classic cars in North America. Ace photographer Peter Singhof has been to pretty well every classic car happening on the planet and was there last weekend to record some of the highlights for K500

The concours itself was moved one day forward to Saturday to avoid bad weather forecast for its traditional Sunday slot. A 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 claimed Best of Show, Concours d’Elegance, while a 1967 Lotus 49 was Best of Show, Concours de Sport. Given The Amelia's position as an event for real connoisseurs, it was appropriate that each car was owned by knowledgeable and passionate enthusiasts of long-standing: Deborah, widow of Arturo, Keller in the case of the Alfa Romeo; Chris MacAllister, Jim Clark’s Lotus 49, the car that gave the Cosworth DFV engine its debut at Zandvoort in 1967.
