Salon Privé 2020: The show must go on... 28th September 2020

Battling against the all odds, brothers Andrew and David Bagley nonetheless put on a terrific five-day event at the Duke of Marlborough’s family home of Blenheim Palace.

First it was constantly evolving COVID-19 restrictions, then weather conditions that changed by the hour. But the healthy attendance and more cars than ever on display and entered for the daily concours proved that the country’s appetite for classic car events remains undiminished, despite 2020’s travails.

The Concours d’Elégance presented by AXA was held on Wednesday and attracted a record number of entries. As usual, regular MC Max Girardo was the man with the mic, and he presented the cars that drove under the extensive awning that protected an impressive line-up of judges from the elements.

Best of Show Award that day went to the ex-Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza Spider by Zagato (below), a car raced in period by Tazio Nuvolari.

Salon Privé is scheduled for 1-4 September 2021. We hope and pray life will be back to some sort of normality by then – the organisers of events such as this and the Hampton Court Concours of Elegance so deserve it. See salonpriveconcours.com
